Rishab Shetty's Kantara is setting the cash registers ringing in all languages across the globe. The film achieved a new milestone by beating Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1's lifetime collection in Hindi.
Kantara earned over Rs 26 crore and is now inching closer towards Rs 30-crore mark in the North belt. This is indeed a huge boost to Kantara, which was predominantly a Kannada film.
Initially, the film was released in Kannada and was later dubbed in other languages due to positive word of mouth.
As the film (Hindi version) completed 13 days in theatres, it has achieved yet another milestone. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala pointed out that the Hindi dubbed version of Kantara has zoomed past Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1's lifetime collection. He wrote, "#Kantara Hindi has crossed #PS1 Hindi Lifetime Nett in India (sic)."
Kantara (Hindi) is now inching closer to the Rs 30-crore mark in Hindi. According to trade expert Taran Adarsh, Kantara earned Rs 26.50 crore in 12 days.
Kantara is an action drama written, directed and acted by Rishab Shetty. The film is about a dominant caste landlord who tries to usurp the lands of the villagers. The film also features Achyuth Kumar, Kishore, Sapthami Gowda and Pramod Shetty in important roles.
Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan, which hit the theatres on September 30, is based on a popular literary novel of the same name, written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. The film features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Trisha and Jayam Ravi in lead roles.
